history of innovation
WFEL’s origins go back to the Fairey Aviation Company, founded in 1915, a Company that built many aircraft including the Fairey Swordfish and the Fairey Delta 2. The Delta 2 not only held the World Air Speed Record in 1954 but its design included features such as delta wings and a droop-nose which were later to be seen on Concorde.
During the 1960’s WFEL became heavily involved in the supply of many products for the Nuclear Power Industry ranging from stainless steel waste containers to fuel handling systems. The 70’s began the era of WFEL’s involvement in military bridging with the Medium Girder Bridge. Which brings us to today with the Dry Support Bridge and the Air Portable Ferry Bridge.
From aircraft, through nuclear power stations to bridges, sustained quality, combined with technological excellence has produced leading edge products.
